Finally, a working release.Tested across both discs, working fine. :D

Thanks. Almost flawless... but still a few minor OCR issues on both subs:

CD1

LINE 14 (lower case l instead of capital I)
But I'm not the only one
with a death sentence, am l?

LINE 141 (lower case should be capital)
Jericho. come in.

LINE 378 (missing first part)
It's got a lock on you. Break Off.

LINE 477 (lower case l instead of capital I)
I'II go first.

CD2

LINE 58 (lower case l instead of capital I)
lron Gator, this is
Scarface 51. We have eyes on the machine.

LINE 116 (lower case l instead of capital I)
Neither did l.

LINE 254 (lower case l instead of capital I)
Call the surgical team.
- it's Connor.

LINE 141 Jericho. come in.
(It should be a comma instead of full stop.)

LINE 254 Call the surgical team. - it's Connor.
(It should read "Call the surgical team. Remarks: it's Connor.")

Wooah. You guys are freaks. I love it Yes!!!

Subtitle maniacs. I love it too. :-)

I noticed that when removing HI parts automatically with STW, all the parts before colons ":" are deleted. That can be quite nasty.

Again, my recommendation is Gaupol. Nothing beats that for correcting and removing HI. You can see all changes that are about to be made and uncheck the ones you don't like. You could even find those instances where a comma is a dot, because the following words will probably not be capitalized. And a working English spell-checker is included as well. You can work on multiple files simultaneously! Great for line adjustments too.(Not so great for splitting 3-liners though, that is best in STW)

yep, Gaupol is what I am using, too. haven't touched stw ever since you recommended it, rogard m8.

Oh, I guess I am flogging a willing horse then. [Smile]

Gaupol rocks - if it weren't for the nasty bug that occurs when you switch to English in "Correct Texts".... Do you have that also, that it just stalls? I have been in contact with the developer but it doesn't look like he's gonna update any time soon. Bummer.

STW is still great for splitting 3-liners and too long lines and various other tasks. My workflow is like this: rip the subs with subrip and use its ocr correction (which is pretty goood and I wonder why not everybody uses it). By the way, in the ocr section I make every small L a capital i, no matter what. That makes it easier later on. Then Gaupol (correct text, adjust line breaks, spell-checker, finally remove HI) and if necessary STW where I take care of any longish lines and 3-liners.

Any better, faster or just different suggestions, my fellow subtitle freaks?

@ rogard

1) spellchecking with gaupol: as i only do english subs i never encountered the problem you are talking about. however, i checked now and noticed that i can't select any other language than english which is set by default. is that what you are refering to?

2) my workflow: rip with subrip and use ocr correction, check for synchronicity. if the movie is in sync and the char matrix is tried and trusted then i'm done here (i know i'm a lazy butt)

if the subs don't fit i use time adjuster for splitting, merging, synchronizing.

if the subs have HI notations i run gaupol to remove them. i have "remove common errors" and "break lines" switched on too.

i use "spellchecking" only when the matrix is either new or when the subs i am working on have been uploaded by someone else (eg. when removing HI notations from subs previously only available with HI)
