Tonight the first real DVDRip has been released by NeDiVX. It is said to include English subtitles.
Can't wait to get it. Well, at least I finished my transcript well before that happenend...and I am curious about the few unintelligible parts. "**** stops"?
Thanks again for your positive feedback.
EDIT: No English subtitles. Bummer.
rogard - thanks for all the donkey work (slang for doing the bulk of work, the tedious, time consuming parts). You've done well .. however, I'm assuming English is not your native language ... I've been slowly editing and correcting mistakes - I've done about 1/5th so far and have uncovered 100's of mistakes, sorry to say. From incorrect tense of verbs to simply hearing problems - such as "mistress" is actually "mischief" as in - "did you get up to any mischief this weekend". As for Audrey pulling blows, it's actually pulled a bloke (slang for found a man). And the eyes feel like "oven stones" <-- which people used to cook on, the stone retaining heat for baking etc once it was out of the fire.I'm not sure how to get my editing to you for you perusal, perhaps you can pm me and let me know you email address. I don't want to upload it as my own when I finish it - it was your work - I'm just proof-reading it. I've also made plenty of logical changes with the grouping of subtitles, so only 1 actor speaks, not two - eg when martine asks about dave he says "Me? Ohh ... a bit of film..." - the subtitle break now comes after martine's question, rather than after Dave saying "Me?". A lot of other subtitles have where possible has their display time lengthened, as many are a bit quick. The difference overall is great - but so farI've only done about the first 20%. I'll be interested to see a sub off a retail DVD too. Anyway - pm me if you want my editing. Thanks :)
Hi Aequi,
you're right, I am not a native speaker - that's what made it so hard to listen to the dialog, because most of the characters seem to omit half of the syllables. That together with the (fake) 70ies slang is quite painful for every non-native speaker, I suppose. A really good listening comprehension excercise for me nonetheless...
Oven STONES! I did not get that one. Nice. And about all the other mistakes...well, although I said the subtitle was 99.5% good, I've been aware that there were quite a lot of inaccuracies left. It just sounds bad when you say: 50% perfect :-) I guess it was more like: 99.5% of what I am capable of.
You're very welcome to upload your own version under your name, as long as I am mentioned somewhere in the credits for laying the groundwork.
That is making much more sense, because you seem to do some serious editing yourself, so it'll be your subtitle when you're done.
One question left: where have you been all the time? ;-)
Cheers
EDIT: I was just thinking..."100's" of mistakes in the first fifth of the film....what you're saying is that almost every line is wrong/inaccurate....wow....hard to believe. Now I am really keen on seeing your version.
Yup .. 100's of changes in the first 20% .. but not every line :) PM me with your email and I'll send you my edit - so you can at least see that.
I haven't done any more since that first 20% or so - it is so time consuming. I just did "The Forbidden Kingdom-axxo" - it took 10 hrs and is damn near perfect :)
This one though I have probably spent 20 hrs on it already. I have a super old 8year old pc and timing issues and cpu is a problem. Also, the 70's pommie slang and accent make for hard work.
So, it's so time consuming that I'm not doing any more of it until some other release group does a subrip off a retail dvd.
As to, where have I been .. well, I've never bothered with subs, but now my new dvd player can play em, and FXG started putting them out with their releases and since axxo was on holiday for a few months, I downloaded some FXG ... I started a few months ago to burn all my movies with them ... at first I just burnt them - now I look at them first and edit them as lately I have found that most are far from perfect. I test my version on a dvd-rw with my dvd player.
Check out my release for axxo (and pukka's) The Forbidden Kingdom - read my comment on my release. And this is what I find in most subtitles now. Obviously someone does a release somewhere, and then everyone else uses that as a template and everyone ends up with the same errors. Forbidden Kingdom was funny - everyone had "See Crook" instead of "secret", "raben" instead of "weapon", "My Leech" instead of "My Liege" and they were all mising about 20 lines of English dialog.I made 100's of fixes.
So now .. I will be taking it upon myself to test and edit and perfect every srt that I get, and I get it for every movie I download, and I download almost every movie.I will upload all my final versions - but, I just simply can'tspend as much time on it as I have with this one. So .. this one is over for now until a retail dvd subrip is done for a better starting base.
Anyway .. PM for you email so I can send you my file with the first 20% done with the text all perfect - but there are a couple of timing issues.
Thanks rogard.
