The dialogue in the ending doesn't seem to jive with what the director / author had indicated in his interview, as shown in the following link.

Dear Muscle Single Gay Asian Male, if you READ what is posted in the description of this torrent, there are two versions of the ending. One from the movie (as the director intended) and the other is a "fan rendered" ending with a semi-happier ending. Of course it has nothing to do with what the director wanted to say in the ending because it is made up.

You have three files, I will explain this again. File 1 and 2 are for the movie the way the director intended it. The 3rd is the second file only with a FAN ADJUSTED ending. Please read the description so you know what you are downloading. The original subs for the movie are there, you DO NOT have to use the alternate ending. I hope this is clearer.

I do not mind negative comments or even critical comments about the subtitles but if I say in the description you have an option of the original or the alternate ending, then please for god's sake, do not make comments like you did about this subtitle files.  If you read before you download, you should also think before you make comments.  Hey, if you hate how I ended it my way, that is fine with me.  I am not particularly fond of it either.  I like the original ending.

Anywho, since negativity seems pervasive and thank you's are an extreme rarity, my group of friends that decided to start help fan generating subtitles for foreign movies, most likely will stop doing it while we are ahead or just do it for ourselves rather than share it. I thank you for opening my eyes musclesgam.

My dear friend... please don't get discouraged and/or stop your wonderful work. I'll be posting the torrents in the next couple days, and once again we'll both be helping to make this world at least a LITTLE happier, and a little more understanding.

Love is found in the strangest places, sometimes...

And this is one of those times.

Take care,

Pawpcorn

thanks pawpcorn.. ( I know who you are !!) thanks for the encouragement. it is easy to become discouraged.  I thank you for you spreading this wonderfully touching movie also !! you are the bomb... but, I told you that already.

Did you make this subtitle?

My friend did... do you mean is it completed? If that's what you meant... then the answer's yes... Take care, Pawpcorn

Thank you! do you have english subtitle for 4 romance? and also where can i buy a dvd of it?

Can i ask again? Did your friend really made the subtitle? I hope he really did. I hope that it was not just a dvd-ripped subtitle.

Hi, Blueberry... I don't mind being asked again, no problem. I'll try to explain in some detail, the process that occurred, within this message. It's been over a couple years, but as I recall, my American friend (who became my "Internet Friend" and now Facebook friend, due to our mutual infatuation with this film) collaborated with a Thai speaking friend of HIS, in the states, working together, to translate the movie into English, and create the subtitles. For MY part, I edited the resulting subtitle text files he created ever so slightly, to just fix a few small typos and other things, and then created the new DVD from the original DVD, adding the subtitles into the DVD, (NOT hard burning them into the video). This movie was a favorite of mine, because it has been the ONLY Thai video ever released that showed a genuinely romantic (yet troubled, by society's pressures) relationship between two drop-dead Thai students. AND it didn't end in death and agony as is the case with MOST gay-theme movies (taking "Bangkok Love Story" for example). HOWEVER, at the conclusion of the movie, cutie Mu(sic) (who is gay, in real life) is REJECTED by Mario(real name, who is straight in real life) who has been pressured by his mother to ignore his leanings toward gay love with Mu. Mu ends up devastated, in non-stop tears. This SAD ending (SO opposed to what we (us gay guys, us Rice Queens) wanted the ending to be!!!) was of such mutual frustration to my American friend, that he actually took the effort to create an ALTERNATE ENDING(!!!!) subtitle-wise(!!!) creating an ending scenario that had Mario NOT reject Mu, in the end!!! This was the ending we BOTH would have wanted... but my friend had SO MUCH explaining to do, here on Subscene, (that he had simply FABRICATED what he had WISHED the ending to be!!!) that I'm sure he ended up wishing he'd never bothered creating (or at least sharing) the alternate (happy) ending (which was NOT the ending I used). AND the thing was, that even though we (me and an European friend here) were able to see the movie in the Bangkok theater with English subtitles, when the movie company created the DVD, (due to a complete and total brain-fart, IMHO) they never bothered to add the already-created subtitles to the movie!!! Un-f-ing-believable. Like they didn't believe a gentle Thai-boy romantic drama would have commercial interest and value world wide??? Simply unbelievable and incomprehensible. This oversight generated a LOT of discussions, on various forums here (Like ThaiVisa.com), at the time. What a stupid decision, especially considering the subtitles translations had ALREADY been created, and virtually EVERY American movie released here in Thailand has English and Thai subtitles, so it's not like the "technology" is unknown, or like it would have added significantly to the cost!!! So my US friend, and his Thai friend, felt compelled to create this LONG EXTENSIVE subtitle translation project, totally from scratch. My American friend also put a bit of an American-English twist on it (Americanizing the dialog, slightly). So there you have it! Oh, the European friend of mine who lives here in Bangkok too, who also was very moved by this movie, bought TWO of the collector's items DVDs (with the Director's cut version). They included this nifty full size replica of the DOLL that Mario had given Mu, which was the focus point of many of the movie's scenes. This friend sold ME ONE of the the packages for what he paid for it, which was SO amazing, and made me SO happy!!! I guess I'll always be a sentimental Rice Queen, I think the same for ALL three of us Westerners mentioned above. And one nice thing is that the both of us living in Bangkok have long-term relationships with VERY nice (and in my case, beautiful!) Thai boyfriends! Life is good! Now may I ask you to tell me just a little about how YOU relate to the movie, and any other interesting insights or angles or feelings YOU have with The Love of Siam? AND I'll add that (in case you didn't know this from first hand experience) the Thai man is the most gorgeous man on the planet IMHO, and Bangkok has precious LITTLE negative stigma or stereotyping associated with being gay (ie it's no big thing, and doesn't matter!). Metropolitan lifestyles don't get any better than this IMHO. Sorry for the long reply; sometimes I get a bit verbose when it comes to things I really love, in this lifetime. And Rak Haeng Siam is one of those things. Best regards, Pawpcorn

Thank you for the reply. I bought a director's cut of the movie. it has no english subtitles, but i bought it anyway. I contacted Sahamongkul Film if they know where i could get an english subtitle of the movie. Sadly, they don't know where. I surfed the net to find what i am looking for. Then, i found this site. bounded by the copyright laws, i hesitated to download the subtitle here in fear that i might commit copyright infringement. That's why i asked if the subtitle was created or ripped from an english-subtitled copy of the movie.

I am also moved by this movie. it's the first time that i saw a gay-themed movie that is wholesome. also, i like the plot of this film. it's long, yet it's not boring. I like the way it ends. I think, it's the ending that make this movie such a phenomenal hit. the line "i can't be with you as your boyfriend, but that doesn't mean i don't love you" is very simple but conveys a lot of emotions and ideas.

is it true that the guy who played Mu in love of siam is gay in real life?
