hi i am new i just signed up when the subs come on and i mean arabic subs the letters are not joind in a word like they should be meaning each and every letter is by its own so how do i make it right thank you.

 I am not an Arab speaker, but as far as I know, several players like VLC cannot display arabic subtitles correctly.

You could use vobsub, that should solve the problem. 

Have a look at this thread as well, if you want to have subtitles on your tv set.

thanx to the admin for the edit and thanx for the info but there is still a small problem, the subs come out no problem thier but they come up in pairs like duoble so one someone talks in the moviethe subs come up twice at the same time . and thanx again.

that's because they're enabled to display in your player - most likely windows media player. you have to go through the player's options and deselect something like "display the subtitles with the film" because they're already being displayed by ffshow :)

I have the same problem (letters not attached) and I would like to know how to correct this. I have the AVIaddXSubs program and it won't recognize the arabic right-to-left reading. What should I do? (I looked everywhere in ffdshow and I still don't know what to do)

Hi friends, i'm working in (Macintosh) system, so arabic subtitle dosen't appear correctly, it's not arabic letters anymore, anybody has a solution???.. thx so much,

I made a sample movie in AviaddXSubs with Arabic subtitles, and our Arabic-speaking admin said they looked correct. BTW, if you use that program, you can't use ffdshow to display the subtitles. Only divx player will work.

Other than that, vobsub seems to be one of the few ways to have correct arabic subtitles.

ffdshow seems to have trouble there.

 For Mac OS there seems to be a nice plugin called Perian (freeware)

It allows quicktime players to play more film formats and subtitles:

It might be necessary to convert the subtitle to the correct character set/font with CYCLONE first.

Since I don't own a mac, I can't verify that, so it would be nice if you gave us some feedback whether it works or not.
