If you have problems with other users, PM an Admin providing all the necessary info and links to the subtitles whose credits were stolen, so they can be deleted. Action may also be taken against 'stealers', but only at Admins' discretion.

A useful thing you can always do, on the other hand, is to add a comment IN ENGLISH where you state you're the translator of the subtitles you've uploaded.

Hi, I`m Rosalbanita from Amsterdam. I am Italian freelance translating into English, mainly as hobby, so that I can share some ``patriotic`` movie proud with non Italian speakers friends / husband in the rainy evenings of this permanent cloudy country :)

I `m just a beginner to this website and also to the use of subtitle workshop, so feel free to give me all sorts of advice in case you find something wrong with the subtitles I upload.

So far I translated The little devil (from the Italian txt version I found on this website), No skin (Senza Pelle) and Fun is beautiful (Un sacco bello) which I have just re-uploaded and previously deleted by mistake.

Hi, my name's hinx. I specialize in custom English subtitles of favorite films for a very small circle. Native language is English, secondary languages are two European and two Asian, plus others I won't mention. I only do about 3 - 6 of these a year.

I've only managed to upload one sub that is here - a deliberately almost literal version of The Galindez File (Spanish). I can't remember if I've uploaded others - they certainly aren't there anymore. I've given up on trying to upload As Tears Go By - a Wong Kar Wai film that deserves good subs (Cantonese audio - there are small differences with the very poorly dubbed Mandarin audio that is best ignored).

I particularly like adding subs to songs which are important to the period. Almodovar's "Volver" comes to mind, as well as The Motorcycle Diaries, Crimen Ferpecto, Hable Con Ella. Favorite projects of late are Lust Caution - some old songs there - Isabella (Mandarin audio is more comprehensive than the Cantonese one though Leung's song remains Cantonese as it identifies the location and era) and the illuminating La Mome Piaf - aka La Vie En Rose, which has many period songs that add significance to the movie and viceversa. I abuse poetic license for translating songs, mixing and cross-matching rhyme or meter to either the soundtrack or the subs as I see fit. For dialog, I prefer subs which closely follow the original dialog's grammatic structure. It makes a difference because it gives the illusion that you understand a language that you mightn't, if you follow my drift.

Yeah, I'm multilingual enough to try anything, including Russian (9-Ya Rota or 9th Company) which I've sourced from three separate non-Russian subs. It was interesting to use an online virtual Cyrillic keyboard via cut and paste to sub a few starting credits.

I think the site should allow .nfo files. Sometimes I use overlapping subs - i.e. subs where a line of dialog is fixed while another line above or below changes - okay for burning but not much else. The subs need to be optimized for the burn position (top-down if letterboxed with a subs pane otherwise bottom-up). Any comments on that are welcome.

I translate from English to Danish and I, if I have to say so myself, do a pretty damn good job! :D
