List of players that (don't) support embedded DivX subtitles

 Please post your brand and model and whether it works or not. (yes/no)

LG RH298H            yes

Silvercrest 5300x     no :-(

HI mate, when you say "DivX" does that also include XviD?

Good subject btw. Im planning to buy a player soon, so it would be great to know.

 Should not make a difference, and you can change the 4cc code between DivX, DX50 and XVID in the program AviaddXSubs. But since my player does not display those d.... subs, I dunno.  Get yourself a player that's on the DIVX ULTRA list, if you want to play it safe, I guess. Those should all play XVID without problems as well.

Sounds great, found the DiX Ultra list here: http://www.divx.com/products/hw/browse.php?c=16. I think I'll try one of them. Will report back about it's sub capabilities when I get it :)

attaboy :D

Rogard,

I also have Silvercrest DP5300x and embedded DIVX subtitles are not shown. But, a test on some other site comfirms embedded subtitles, to be working on DP5300x (see http://www.hdtv-praxis.de/modules.php?op=modload&name=PagEd&file=index&topic_id=2&page_id=431&ppart=9#section9).

The test was made using component video output and progressive scan mode. I use SCART output.

Which video output do you use? Do you have the ability to test it with progressive scan mode?

 @aliban

Good point, you are right, they say it does support embedded subs. Dunno why it does not work for me. I had a glimpse of an arabic test subtitle once, but only for a second, then it was gone, never to return.

I use Scart output.

I tested with DIVX 6 test videos directly from DIVX as well, so it can't be a problem with the .divx I created.

Luckily, I don't need embedded subtitles because I use .srt in English and sometimes German. Since these work fine, I am reasonably happy with my dvd player.

 I'll try using the other outputs and will tell you about my results (but probably not before easter)

Cheers, and thanks for the feedback.

@rogard

I am just wondering, if you did the test with component video output and progressive scan mode.

How were the results?

I made a test with DivX Ultra test video LastManStanding from divx.com - menu was working also selecting of different audio tracks. But integrated subtitles were not shown, movie even got frozen for a while.

Regards.

HI aliban,

I tested it with component out, but nothing changed. Can't test progressive :-( but I don't think it would make a difference anyway.

I had the fozen picture as well. Weird, since the article (I've read it too before I bought it) said it can do all of this just fine. Hmmm. Don't have the time to do more research right now, but if you can find out what's wrong, I'd be glad.

Cheers.

Sorry for not posting my results earlier, I've totally forgotten about that.

Wait.. by embedded do you mean SRTs (external) or internally added.. Coz I am a bit confused there..
