doesn't work for me. first bit of mandarin and the subs are a no show.

 These seem to work okay with the 'Forbidden Kingdom 2008 DVDRip x264-TDM' release, too.  The timing may be a smidge off, and you'll need to rename the .srt file to match the .avi, but they're certainly better than the prepacked Engrish subs.
