How do I put a couple of subtitle files (like say Hearing Impaired, Normal) into just one sub file so my divx player can play it to?? I need serious help!!

my suggestion is that you make a dvd out of the video, that way you can add all the subs you want to it and select them accordingly to your needs. a one-click program with nice results is "Convertx2dvd". please notice it's not a free program, but it's very very nice.

otherwise you should create an idx+sub file, BUT i've never been able to add more than a subtrack to it. i googled a lot to find out how, and i couldn't. if you find a way to do that pls let me know.

 Have a look here. This is a very cool solution, but it might not work on your DVD player.

The easiest way that works with almost every recent (no more than 2 years old) DVD/Divx certified standalone player:

Put the film and all the subtitles in one directory, burn it to disk (including the directory, because otherwise you'll end up with a choice between ALL the subtitles on that disk. Quite annoying with 12 Lost episodes and 2 subtitles for each...), and when you open the film your pllayer will ask you which subtitle to play. Or you use the "subtitle" button on your remote. Usually .srt and .sub work perfectly.

Works like a charm with all languages with standard ASCII characters.

i think he meant multiple tracks for a single file, not many videos and many tracks. the fastest way to do that is to make a dvd. the program i suggest is one-click. i suppose if someone has an avi directly they aren't extremely picky about quality, and in any case dvds made out of high quality avis are more than nice to watch.

 Huh? Well, it works for single video with multiple subs. I just wanted to warn against what will happen if you have several videos (with loads of subtitles on one disk (DVD or DVD-DL)

Sh** rogard, where the hell did you find that from Google?? I got some pretty crappy ones here but yeah as lyliakar (I hope I am writing your name correctly) said what I need is like 2 SubRip files into 1 VobSub Subtitle. I also have heard of ConvertXToDvD but no one wants to go to the process of buying a DVD RW and then burning it and etc.

Anyways, thanks rogard for finding text 2 vobsub (but hope it takes like less than 300 kb coz i need to put it in a CD!!)

The resulting sub/idx file will definitely be bigger than 300kb, more like a few MB (per language)

What's wrong with DVD-R? they cost almost nothing, it's even cheaper than CD-R per Gig? And DVD-RWs are not so expensive any more either.

Anyway, are you even sure your DVD player can handle vobsub subtitles?

Have you checked whether it can play .srt subtitles? Because that's the easiest way (and the film will still fit on a CD-R.) 

It definitely plays srt subtitles, though I am not sure whether it plays sub. It definitely doesnt play MKV so I dunno but I prefer CDs for movies and 1 gig movies and TV Shows for DVDs..

 Anyways, thanks for the information but just let me know if I can use good font and style and use only 2 srt files but it should be at least less than an MB...
