NEW FORUM: Tutorials

Hi everyone.

We've thought it would be nice to have a section of the site completely devoted to a few simple tutorials, and there it is --->

:)

We're working on it, we'll try to cover the most frequently asked questions, and if you have special requests or want to know how to do something subtitle related, don't be shy and let us know here.

Thanks.

Hello friends,

Please guide me how  to convert a .sub file to .srt. I use convert x to dvd and I'm unable to load the subtitle file with .sub extn.  Kindly help

Nobby Mathew

sure. how big is the .sub you have? a few kbs or more than a Mb?

Dear IyIiakar,

First of all allow me to thank you for the prompt reply. After I went thro' the tutorial columns I came across a description about renaming the part files. I tried as was mentioned there and bingo it worked. Earlier, even with single files I was ignoring the .idx file. That I understand was my fault. Now I don't have any problem with loading a subtitle file with .sub extn. If I face any problems in the times to come I'm sure I can count on you guys.

Most of the subtitles I downloaded average between 1 to 3.5 Mb.

Last but not the least thank you once again and every one at subscene for this very handy and useful tutorial colomn and this fabulous site. Keep up the good work. Adios.

Regards,

Nobby Mathew

i'm glad you've solved your problem renaming the file.. however, for your information (also because renaming the subs could not work with other programs) idx+sub can be saved as .srt extracting the subs they incluse with"Subrip", while .sub that are a few kbs only are called "MicroDVD" subtitles and they can be opened and resaved as .srt with programs such as for example "Subtitleworkshop". both programs are free.

Regards :)
