Kafka, professor de Educação Física, mantém outros empregos paralelos para sustentar a mãe doente. Na noite em que rompe o namoro com May, conhece Daniel, jovem homem de negócios. Daniel, que acabou de se mudar da Austrália para Hong Kong por conta da crise financeira de 2008, seduz Kafka. Solitário e carente, o rapaz cede aos seus encantos. Ambos se convencem de que o amor é capaz de suplantar tudo que os separa, como as preferências sexuais e o vício de Kafka em drogas.
